Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.

Buckwheat is a green leafy vegetable belonging to the family Polygonaceae. Buckwheat plant is a good source of flavonoids and phenolic acids such as Rutin, Quercetin, Catechin and chlorogenic acid. Buckwheat shows anti-oxidant activity by inhibiting intercellular peroxides, production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Malondialdehyde (MDA) and increase in Glutathione (GSH) levels in the cells.
