Pumpkin is a fruit vegetable belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae. They are rich source of carotenoids and polyphenols. Pumpkins have diuretic properties and enhance immune cell proliferation. They upregulate the TNF-α production and NF-κB activation in the macrophages and promote phagocytosis and support innate immunity.
