Ziziphus xylopyrus plants belong to the Rhamnaceae family and are commonly known as Jujab in English. It was found in North-Western India, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Central, and South India. Fruit decoctions of this plant used in birth control in some parts of Rajasthan, India. As a potent sedative, this plant is widely used in Turkish medicine. For stomach aches and indigestion, fruit powder is administered with a pinch of ginger powder thrice a day. Methanol and chloroform extracts of fruits showed potential anti-inflammatory activities. |
