Prunus salicina

Plums also known as aloobhukhara belongs to the family rosaceae. Plums are largely grown in staes of Uttarakhand and Himachal pradesh together they make up 65% of plum production in India. It harvested in the months of Apirl and May. Plums are rich phytochemicals such as anthocyanins and phenolic acid which are beneficial to human health. Neo chlogenic acid one of the major compund of plums has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting against LPS-activated inflammatory responses through up-regulation of Nrf2/HO-1 and involving AMPK pathway. Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside belonging to anthocyanins are shown have anti-inflammatory in nature.

Mode of Consumption: Mostly consumed Raw, Used to prepare Juice, Jam, Pickles Dried fruits etc
