Prunus persica var. nucipersica

Nectarines are subspecies of peaches (Prunus persica). They are reddish in colour with fuzzy hair like structure on the peel. Nectarines are grown in Hiamcahl pradesh and uttrakhand and are harvested in the month of March and May. These fruits contain high concentration of chlorogenic acid and neo chlorogenic acid which has potential to act as chemopreventive dietary compound because of the relatively high growth inhibition exerted on the estrogen-independent MDA-MB-435 breast cancer cell line and low toxicity exerted in the normal MCF-10A cells

Mode of Consumption: Mostly consumed Raw, Used to prepare Juice, Jam, Pickles Dried fruits etc

Compound/Chemical Immunomodulatory Activity Pathway Immunomodulatory Marker
Neochlorogenic acidAntiproliferative activityNeo-chlorogenic acids has the potential to act as chemopreventive dietary compound because of the relatively high growth inhibition exerted on the estrogen-independent MDA-MB-435 breast cancer cell line and low toxicity exerted in the normal MCF-10A cells[5]
Vanillic acidAntiproliferative activityVanillic Acid Suppresses HIF-1α Expression via Inhibition of mTOR/p70S6K/4E-BP1 and Raf/MEK/ERK Pathways in Human Colon Cancer HCT116 Cells and it can also inhibit inflammatory mediators by suppressing NF-κB in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophagesNF-κB[2][12]
Syringic acidAntiproliferative activitySyringic acid prevents skin carcinogenesis via regulation of NoX and EGFR signaling[3]
Major Class Metabolites
Phenolic acidNeochlorogenic acid(Pulp), Vanillic acid(Pulp), Syringic acid(Pulp)
