Musa itinerans
It is a wild species of Banana, dispersed across continental Southeast Asia from Northeast India to Vietnam and the adjacent islands. According to many reports it is found that this species is highly endangered. Compared to other species this species is highly resistant to cold climates and diseases. The pseudostem is composed of highly packed leaf sheaths and grow between 3 to 7 m in height. The pseudostem turns purple with age. Each fruit is of 14 cm to 15 cm in length and contains numerous, irregularly shaped seeds. |
