Garcinia morella
Garcinia morella known as Indian gamboges. It was a fruit-yielding tree belonging to the family Clusiaceae and also a close relative of mangosteen (G. mangostana). In India, it is commonly distributed in the Western Ghats and north-eastern regions. Fruits are berries with a diameter of 3 cm that contain four seeds. Several secondary metabolites have been isolated from the fruits and seeds of Indian gamboge. The major isolated phytochemicals were xanthones, benzophenones, flavonoids, phenolic acid, triterpenoids, and fatty acids. Isolated compound garcinol showed potent anti-oxidant activity against MCF7, MDAMB231, and SKBR3 cell lines |
