Antidesma acidum

Antidesma acidum  is one of the wild edible plants of the Western Ghats of Maharashtra and belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae. Regionally, its leaves are used as a vegetable, while mature fruits are used for pickles, and ripened fruits are eaten by people such as Ranma. A decoction of Antidesma acidum leaves and mature fruits is used in the treatment of stomachaches in children and digestion problems. Methanol extract from this fruits significantly inhibited intracellular reactive oxygen species production in HEK-293 cells. It also helps for improved nutritional and health quality.

Mode of Consumption: Mostly consumed Raw, Used to prepare Juice, Jam, Pickles Dried fruits etc
