Annona squamosa
Annona squamosa is a small, well-branched tree or shrub from the family Annonaceae that bears edible fruits called sugar apples or sweetsops. Annona squamosa contains some phytoconstituents such as alkaloids oxophoebine, reticuline, isocorydine, and methylcorydaldine, and the flavonoids, quercetin-3-O-glucoside. Traditionally these fruits are used as a sedative in cases involving heart ailments and also used to alleviate vomiting and treat tumors. |
