Ananas comosus
Pineapple is a tropical fruit of the Bromeliaceae family and is well known for its aroma, flavour and juiciness. It has a medium sized structure and comprises of spikes on the outer layer on the skin. The fruit is known to have adequate amount of nutrients including various bioactive compounds. It is mostly effective as a contraceptive and a diuretic. Bromelain is a compound abundantly found, and as reported shows anti-inflammatory activity responses by reducing the secretion of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1beta, IL-6 and TNF-alpha. |
