RICH-NE is proposed as a formal umbrella structure connecting research institutions, academia, industries, start-ups, MSMEs, government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders working across North East India.

RICH-NE was formally inaugurated on 18 March 2026 at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, during the 66th Foundation Day celebration of CSIR-NEIST.
The inauguration marked the beginning of a coordinated regional effort to strengthen scientific partnerships, shared infrastructure, and innovation-driven development across North East India.
