Omics technologies have revolutionized our understanding of human health
and disease. North-Eastern Region (NER) of India holds immense potential
for biomedical research, but its medical faculty and biomedical researchers
lack essential R&D knowledge, skills, and access to facilities and
expertise on modern omics technologies and tools, limiting NER’s
ability to address key health and disease challenges. To address this gap,
CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST) is organizing
a training program entitled "4-Weeks Comprehensive Training on Omics
for Biomedical Application" from 21 November to 20 December 2024.
This area-specific hands-on training program aims to develop, upgrade and
equip health research personnel, medical faculty, scientists, and young
researchers from the Northeastern Region (NER) with advanced knowledge
and practical skills in genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics
tools. The program aims to develop and upgrade their expertise, enabling
them to contribute effectively to biomedical research Through expert guidance
and advanced genomics infrastructure, the program will foster a transformational
step, promoting genomic medicine in healthcare research and practices in
the NER region.
